Ambalika Roy is a human rights lawyer with over fifteen years of experience in India, where she
worked with several national not profit organizations to advance access to justice for
women, people living with HIV, and LGBTQI communities facing systemic exclusion based
on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and caste. Ambalika has contributed to
several landmark legal judgments in India, including the recognition of the right to
confidentiality for people living with HIV and the affirmation of the right to identity for
transgender persons. Ambalika has extensively worked on providing legal education and
empowerment to communities across India especially on access to justice and social
inclusion.
Since immigrating to Canada in 2019, Ambalika has worked with the Canadian Centre for
Housing Rights (CCHR) and the Democratic Engagement Exchange. She is currently the
Legal Education Coordinator with the National Right to Housing Network.
