Submission to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women: Review of Canada at 89th Session

In collaboration with HIV Legal Network, CDPC made a submission to the 89th session of CEDAW – the independent international human rights committee of experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. CEDAW was was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1979, Canada became a signatory in 1980. Canada’s compliance with these fundamental human rights standards is reviewed approximately every 6 years and the committee will outline where Canada is having some success and where we need to do better.
